The thin ranks of the Archons of Dusk had always been unremarked-upon in the days subsequent to its founding. Few had the temerity to take on a role that seemed to challenge that of the Shadow Executors, despite their differences in purpose; the surety borne of intelligence and long experience with which its leaders had guided its agents had earned them renown when it came to unraveling intrigues and unearthing secrets. It only served their purposes of course, that they were far less known, but their lesser numbers also made for difficulties in the completion of missions that required as much force as delicacy.
It was then that one of the Archons, who himself had been sought after for a position in the Shadow Court, initiated the founding of a legion meant to address this need, hand-picked from among the ranks of the Archons of Dusk and the Asmodian military. And thus Terminus Est was born.
Silvaenn Altadenys was a Daeva held in high regard by his peers, for it was claimed by some that he had witnessed the Cataclysm with his own eyes, and yet his faculties and extraordinary perception remained as keen as they had been centuries ago. A near soft-spoken man of deceptively mild demeanour, under his guidance the legion flourished, and earned for themselves among their counterparts a reputation for unerring skill in accomplishing the most exacting of missions in both the Abyss and the spheres of Atreia. Few of the Asmodian people knew of them or their deeds, instrumental as they might have been to the war effort; of the Archons of Dusk they knew only by reputation, and as agents tended to work alone, they were often little regarded as a threat.
Many centuries passed. Silvaenn retired from the position of Legion General, and others took his place. As the ranks of Terminus Est grew, so did their independence; they answered directly to the government, as well as facilitating the communication between the Shadow Court and the Archons of Dusk in times when both worked together on missions that required it. There were those who worried that the purposes of the legion were being bent to the whims of politics rather than the well-being of Asmodae, and it was not a concern unfounded. Many of the newer Daeva that helmed the legion were not content with competence, and if they did not seek glory in war, they sought power through the influence of their ties in Pandaemonium, courting the favours of the nobility and the Shadow Court alike.
This long decline culminated in the actions of Remirhaeth, a noble-born Legion-General who had strong ties with both. It is not certain as to what spurred him to order the capture of a certain Artifact, the Doom of Balaurea, that had swung in orbit along the fringes of Atreia and the Abyss for long centuries. It is claimed that Pandaemonium feared that the weapon would be brought to bear on Asmodian-held fortifications, and even Asmodae itself. But the asteroid had been slowly drifting in its course, so far as to have fallen largely useless to even the Balaur that held it. Whatever shadowy motives had driven Remirhaeth, whether his or another's, went with him into the Aether. For the greater part of the legionnaires that accompanied him on his mission died, vanished into the Aether, never to return.
The mission took a heavy toll on Terminus Est's ranks. Only a small band of its militia returned, and they were held for questioning by the Court. When it was plain that Remirhaeth's men had known as little of what lay behind his motives as the rest of Pandaemonium; they were released, and a watch kept on their movements. All this grieved Silvaenn, who had, it was said, been in voluntary stasis for many long years. A young Daeva, one of those who had returned from the failed mission, had come to him seeking aid in the matter. It was then that he decided to take it upon himself to oversee the return of Terminus Est to its former state, and to this end he began the long and arduous task of seeking Daevas fit to fill its ranks once again.

Terminus Est is a semi-independent legion that was originally established as an organisation within the Archons of Dusk in order to carry out special operations missions that required discretion and skill. It has since then expanded its operations, carrying out missions for the government, cooperating with the Shadow Court, as well as facilitating communications between the Archons of Dusk and the Court. There are two divisions within the legion: intelligence, and martial operations. While in the past, only veterans of considerable experience were admitted into its ranks, the dwindling numbers of viable candidates necessitated the consideration of promising younger Daeva for recruitment. An incident in which the Daeva included in its martial unit were decimated by a disastrous mission to capture a certain Balaur-held artifact has only exacerbated this need.
The legion consists of Daeva from various backgrounds talented in the arts of covertcy, infiltration, intelligence-gathering and war. They may be nobility or come from humbler origins. The majority are highly educated, and equipped with the skills necessary for survival in hostile envirornments, or the art of interpersonal relations and negotiation in order to gain information or an individual's confidence. Because members are selected and invited to apply from the ranks of the Archons of Dusk or the regular military, the greater majority of them were already soldiers upon recruitment. There also may be younger recruits - top picks from the cadet ranks or others undergoing training under the legion's jurisdiction without being a part of it. Negotiators, translators, researchers, analysts, and tacticians may also find a place in Terminus Est's ranks. The legion's range of activities are just as extensive as that of the Archons' - from monitoring and quelling the activities of known threats within Asmodae, such as enemy Sapiens, Balaur, subversives, and rifting Elyos, to covert missions in the Abyss, to determining the state of a given region or town's populace and taking the adequate steps to address internal strife.

Terminus Est is a heavy roleplay legion seeking mature and laid-back roleplayers who place priority on the quality of their roleplay and stories. We have no age, class, level or timezone requirement. While experienced roleplayers are highly encouraged to consider our legion, our main criteria is that the player has a character that is consistently and thematically sound and is acquainted with the basics of roleplaying; even then new roleplayers with potential may apply.
We seek creative, imaginative and driven players who are talented in generating plots and roleplay within the given boundaries of Aion theme. As this is a small heavy RP legion, we aim to maintain an open and friendly rapport with the rest of the roleplaying community and coordinate with them on cooperative RP plots. We also highly encourage the feedback and participation of every individual member when it comes to determining the legion's theme and direction in roleplay.
Varied approaches to actual gameplay are welcome. Members will be encouraged to assist in casual pve, sieges, and especially PVP in which a legion member requires help. Alts are of course welcome, even those created especially for rp within the legion; the only requirement for them is that we ask they maintain a sustainable level of activity so that their roles in plots will not be neglected.
Legion entry is now open to all accepted applicants. If you would like to take an important role in establishing what could very well become a successful roleplaying venture, by all means join us.
